Bubba Watson’s win at the Northern Trust Open — at the historic Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades — is his first win since the 2012 Masters. The win returns him to number 14 on the Official World Golf rankings. Born in Florida, Watson played golf at Faulkner State Community College before transferring to the University of Georgia. At Georgia, he was a member of the team that won the SEC title in 2000.
“My first win since the Masters,” Watson said. “You never know when your last win is going to be. My last win could have been the Masters, which would have been a great way to go out. But winning here at Northern Trust is nice. I never felt down that I haven’t won yet, but just kept plugging along. And somehow, it fell in my lap today.”
